Vedic Astrology, also known as Jyotisha, originated from the Vedas (the ancient scriptures or revelations of the Hindu teahings) some 6000 years ago. Vedas are the manifestation of the Divine word and the teachings in human speech. There are four Vedas: Rig Vedas, Sama Vedas, Yajur vedas and Atharva Vedas. 'Jyotisha' was first mentioned in Rig Vedas.

Jyotisha is also known as "Science of light" and is derived from the Sanskrit word which means the person who is enlightened with knowledge. So Vedic Astrology in its true sense is the meant for giving enlightenment to people and removing the darkness of ignorance.

Jyotisha is called the eye of Veda for its ability to see into the future. Vedic Astrology uses the sidereal zodiac wherein the stars are considered to be the fixed background and the motion of the planets is measured against this background which is further related to the life of an individual. The stars and the planets do not rule our destiny. They simply record the destiny, which has already been formed. Vedic Astrology is the main form of astrology which is currently practiced in South Asia.

Vedic Astrology also gives remedial measures to get rid of various negative forces in life, which are leading to mental imbalances or anxiety or diseases or deterioration in relationships. By practicing the principles laid down in vedic astrology, one can get relieved of the problems being faced by him. Vedic astrology deals with the study of the effect of planetary movements on various aspects of the life of person be it relationships, marriage, love life, career, business, health, finances. Any misdeed or mishap or the bad phase in life is related to the malefic effects of the planet. Vedic astrology provides remedial measures to get rid of the malefic effects of the planets.

As per Hindus beliefs, the events happening in the lives of people are related to the KARMAS and the good and bad phases in life are the result of the person's own deed either in this birth or the previous births. "Karmas" have been emphasised in many ancient Hindu scriptures and are considered to be the fundamental supposition for understanding astrology. Lets understand what are Karmas. Karmas are associated with your past or present lives but definitely the past actions. Each time you are reborn, the energies from your previous actions (either from the previous life or lives or from the previous actions of the current life) influence the condition of your current state of life.
