Lord Shiva represents the aspect of the Supreme Being and is considered to be the destroyer of evil and sorrow. He is the source of fertility in all living beings. He destroys evil and protects good. He protects devotees from evil forces. It is done for the fulfillment of your desires.
Lord Shiva or Bhagwan Mahesh is considered as the "Sangharak" of this world or Lok. Lord Shiva is worshipped as a lingam to help us contemplate the need to think of Him as the most basic and essentially formless one. Lord Shiva is commonly portrayed as an ascetic with a serpent around His neck, vibhooti (sacred ash) adorning his face and bare body, a trishul (trident) in one of his hands, a kamandalu (container of water for use in religious practices) in another hand, and a damru (small drum) in yet another hand. Mahashivratri is one of the leading festival of the Hindu Panchang, when devotees worship Lord Shiva and offer him Milk, Dhatura, Pushpa on Shivlingam. Shiva Puja is done according to the guidance of the Pandit Ji. We offer Shiva Puja on the behalf of the person in guidance of the Pandit Ji. In daily life, a brief Shiva Puja can be done by reciting the following slokas and Shiva Aarti.
