In todays fast paced life most people are searching for
that magic wand that will remove their stress and get rid them of their
troubles. Some even wonder if its possible. It is possible, but with a little
effort. I have been studying 'the being' for more than a decade and
assimilated techniques and have presented them in a manner which is easy and
convenient for the present day over worked and over stressed person to practice
and benefit from. This kriya called the Sanatan. 'Sanatan Kriya is the complete
kriya for the modern man. Regular practice of this kriya enables a person to
derive the benefits of Ashtang yog even while leading a modern lifestyle.
Today however the term yoga has taken varied meaning for various people. In this
article I will try and explain the far reaching benefits and experiences that a
practitioner of yoga can go through even in the physical aspect of life.
Let me first explain what yoga is. Yoga is being in union with you. Verbally, I
cannot explain, you need to go through certain experiences, which will make you
come face to face with what is called atma sakshatkar, your true self. Once you
come face to face with your true self, you are in yoga, and once you are in yoga
with yourself, you are a yogi. Yoga can be of several kinds; you might choose
to be in yoga with fashion, with beauty, with sport. A practitioner of yoga is
in yoga with himself or herselfthats a yogi, where yoga is for evolution.
This is not to say that the spiritual is divorced from the material. Your
senses have bound you to the physical, so you cannot comprehend anything beyond
that. So even when you go to God, you ask him for something that has to do with
your physical world, your senses, your intellectual life. Because you cannot
ask for something you dont understand, right?
Ashish, a very senior executive with IBM, is one of my students; his job is
going around to ministries, meeting high ups, trying to convince them to buy
computers. He came back from one of these rounds and said to me, I want to
tell you a very interesting thing that happened today. I said, Bolo. He
went to the ministry of IT, met the director, found the guy totally confused,
one phone on this ear, another on the other, people coming and going, his face
was wrecked. He told him, Sir, why dont you do yog? He stopped everything he
was doing, looked him in the eye and said, You know, I give lectures on yog.
Ashish told him, Sir, dont give lectures. Practice what you preach. And that
guy was intelligent, I give him full credit, he thought for a while and said,
Youre absolutely right.
This is the problem with the majority of the population of the world, we want to
know everything intellectually, but we dont want to practice it and if youre
bound by your physical and intellectual self, how will you go beyond? Somebody
has to take you, no? We know the law of karma; everyone learns it, its in
every religion, but do you practice it? Why not give everything that is there in
your pocket to the next
Beggar you see on the road? Youre earning good karma, and you know it, but you
wont do it! Intellectual understanding is not enough; we need a Guru to really
explain it. And if a Guru tells you to do something, you will, because the Guru
will ensure that you have the gyan to do this, he will ensure that you have gone
beyond the five senses. Hes shown you the light, it neednt be described to
you anymore.
Its when you hold the
hand of the Guru with complete faith that things that can cause physical and
emotional problems just disappear. Of course the bottom line is that you have to
do as you have been told in its `totality. There is no picking and choose from
the menu card.
